Dear John
My honor to meet the source of sustainability- I read yunus last chapter as saying the 2010s is the
most exciting decade ever with sustainability of peoples and planet at stake making the 60s race to the moon look a trivial
pursuit
some urgent action puzzles of interest to our 1000 bookclubs and which we hope to progress on july
4 meeting which dr yunus 30 year long friend dr zasheem ahmed is convening
1 yunus told those attending
his 69th birthday dialogue that sofia hosted in dhaka last summer including bbc polar/solar broadcaster paul rose that unless londoners unite he will put german creative lab in sole charge of his sustainability olympics festival-
he is a bit of a tease but how do we mobilise? (way beyond my experience)
2 yunus uses his extreme antidote definition
to governing by 90 day numbers in his storytelling of social business stockmarket to raise the question if you were
investing over a 20 year (pension type span) what system designs (business models) would you want in such a market ;
this was an exponentials maths question that interested me in 2000 on publication of brookings report unseen wealth-
but I couldnt find a single usa stock fund manager interested in it; I think yunus clue of "no dividends" is seminal
to investing in the most purposeful organisational systems, and that although his book doesnt say it, paris may already be
answering his question
3 one of slightly late 70th birthday wishes we hope to make come true in glasgow
July 4 Interdependence Day is the launch of Journal of Social Business - then we can also time special issues eg on Sustainability
Games
hope there's lot of sustainability fun to be had with the book; I first really met jonathan and sofia after
a really bad 2005 in which my community building mentor colin morley was killed in 7.7; we hosted an open space at the hub
- come only if there is sustainability crisis you feel must be turned round by 2012 and will collaboratively network everything
toward that end; Jonathan's hubs have come on tremendously since then -we hope that yunus will see that on 4 July. My own
sustainability crisis is the BBC ( the world service social buisness if ever broadcasting media will have one) -
can yet be jewel in crown of UK as a nation - time for a world leader in sustainability news analysis
instead of 90 days numbers newsdesks. http://www.normanmacrae.com/netfuture.html
As Euro tsunami bites, I feel that the BBC and sustainability olympics and yunus (adam smith) glasgow
and job creation camps and hubworlds are the only unique things UK economy -and sterling - will have to boom with.
